What is a Crime?

A crime is a deliberate act that causes physical or psychological harm,

financial harm, damage to or loss of property, and is against the law.

There are many different types of crime and nearly everyone will experience a crime at some point in their lives. One in five people are affected by crime. It affects people from all backgrounds, locations and ages; more than one in ten children are affected by crime each year.

If you feel that you are a possible victim of crime in any way please contact us, even if you are not sure that the incident or event was a crime. You are not alone, and you can talk to us in confidence, regardless of when the crime took place or whether or not the police are involved.
